Dan Nichols, LUTCF
Partner
Strategic Financial Group, LLC
As the Founding Partner of Strategic Financial Group, LLC, Dan Nichols works with professionals and business owners who put faith and family first. They strive to live with balance, purpose, and vitality—and they want to give back, leave a legacy, and enjoy the journey. Dan is known for turning financial uncertainty into confidence and helping his clients ensure they never run out of money.
Dan’s journey into financial services wasn’t traditional. He attended trade school for carpentry and, after graduating, went to work for his uncle, who built homes in Westport, Connecticut. One day, his uncle offered a piece of advice that changed everything: “You’ll make more money with a pen than you ever will swinging a hammer.” That insight sparked a bold career shift.
The first six years in the business were anything but easy. But in 1999, everything began to shift when Dan was introduced to the LEAP system and his mentor, Robert Castiglione. That meeting became a major turning point. With grit, humility, and a relentless work ethic, Dan rebuilt his practice using the LEAP philosophy—one relationship at a time—and has been applying it with clients ever since.
Now more than 25 years into his career, Dan is a Lifetime and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) and holds both the LUTCF and CLTC designations. He served as the Political Involvement Leader for New York Life’s Southern Connecticut General Office for over 10 years, advocating on behalf of clients and the industry at the federal level. Dan is a proud 32-year member of NAIFA, an active member of Finseca, and a current member of Forum 400—an exclusive organization representing the best of the best in the life insurance industry. He has also been named to Forbes’ Best-in-State Top Financial Security Professionals list for 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Outside the office, Dan cherishes time with his wife Tracy and their two children, Kayla and Dylan. They spend much of the year at their second home in Vermont—skiing in the winter, boating in the summer, and creating lasting memories together. He also enjoys golfing, biking, football season, and connecting with family and friends.
At the end of the day, it’s the relationships—both personal and professional—that matter most to Dan.
